Sika Background Filler Slap

The Sika Backfill Profile is an extruded polyethylene foam cord that can be used to create joint seals for joints of different diameters and lengths. The Sika Backfill Profile can be used under Sika’s flexible joint seals as a level regulator to create the final depth of the joint sealing materials.

Installation of the gap filler:

Clean the gaps with a wire brush so that all dirt (debris, grass, old sealant, etc.) can be removed. Place the Backfill profile next to the gap and use a knife to cut the length you want. Place the Backfill Profile in the gap with a blunt tool or scroll wheel so that the gap above the profile has a width to depth ratio of 2:1, but the created depth is at least 6 mm. The diameter of the profile should be about 25% but at least 3 mm larger than the width of the gap to be sealed. If the width of the gap is greater than the available profile, screw two profiles together and press them into the gap. If you accidentally damaged it, punctured the surface of the profile, wait at least half an hour before starting the joint sealing.

When installing, it is worth using the Sika Prímer-3N single-component, solvent-based primer placed in the joints under the polyurethane sealants to make its adhesion to the surface more durable.
